I had my third cosmetic procedure with Dr. Saul Berger this year. Dr. Berger was originally recommended to me by a colleague at work 20 years ago following a disappointing first cosmetic procedure with another surgeon. My first procedure was a tummy tuck and liposuction in 2007, followed by breast implant replacement in 2012 (saline implant dislodged from pocket) and breast implant replacement again this year (ruptured silicone implant). For each procedure he listened to what was important to me, my concerns and what I wanted most. This was very important to me. My first plastic surgeon was not able to hear what was important to me and translate it to the procedure. Dr. Berger’s skill, knowledge and attention to detail has provided excellent results every time. He is my surgeon of choice. He has a calm, confident and reassuring presence that puts me at ease. I trust him and that is so important when electing to have surgery. His staff is equally supportive and kind, even with you second guess your decision and send a dozen text messages the Sunday before surgery! Thank you, Dr. Berger and Staff… Best set yet!

In the late summer of 2006 I was diagnosed with Paget’s Disease. This is a rare form of breast cancer that affects the milk ducts beneath the nipple onto the surface of the nipple. My oncologist and primary surgeon both agreed that a full mastectomy was the best course of treatment. Thankfully, I was referred to Dr. Saul Berger, who performed a TRAM flap reconstruction. I could not have asked for a more skilled and kinder person to handle this procedure. After several months of recuperation, the swelling eventually went down and the bruising disappeared. A second surgery was later performed to reconstruct the areola and nipple. Once again, Dr. Berger is the only person I entrusted with my body.
I was extremely lucky to receive a clean bill of health after the first surgery. None of the cancer had spread and I was at level zero. In the months that followed I began wondering how my new breast would affect the wonderful world of dating. It’s not something I even considered beforehand, but now having a new lease on life, why not start living it? The issue of intimacy was now a real factor in my life. I was nervous about meeting someone and wondering if they would be able to tell that part of me was a little different. These thoughts actually kept me single for some time. Now, I can positively say that at least one member of the opposite sex had no idea that one of my breasts had been completely reconstructed and was none the wiser.
I thank God and the universe for sending Dr. Berger to me. I have done vast amounts of research before and after my surgeries and many of the post operative photos handled by other surgeons made me nauseous. Aside from a little scarring, I look at my body in the mirror and see no difference. I never imagined the results would be this perfect. Dr. Berger does incredible work, but more importantly, he truly cares about his patients.
Sincerely,
S.C.
